It's safe to say that James Colzie never heard a boo from the FSU stands during his playing days (1993-'96). After all, the Noles were in mid-dynasty. But his coaching days as a grad assistant (2004-'06) were a far different story.
In Part 2 of our series, Colzie -- now Defensive Coordinator at West Georgia -- talks about how he and Florida State's coaching staff worked through constant criticism from the fans and press. He also answers a question that many who follow FSU and college football in general have wondered: Do players really read those message boards where fans rant about their favorite team ?
This audio gives me absolutely no hope for the defense and the reason really was given in the last comment. Mickey will never get it. Worse than that, his boss doesn't give a damn. If Jimbo were coaching, this crap wouldn't be happening. In his world (and most of college football's) if you don't produce, you're gone. No regrets. As long as Mickey feels no heat from above because it's his pal there, there will be no improvement on that side of the ball.

Working "hard" is not the same as working "smart". Doing the same old things that have caused failure, but doing them with intensity, is still a recipe for failure. With all the hours Mickey's crew might be putting in, their scheme still looks stupid against any team that uses misdirection... or a tight end.
